WORK EXPERIENCE:

Program Management: Sheila will use her experience of bringing different competencies (engineering, budget, testing, Logistics) together to arrive at successful product (outcome) to county government.  Her collaborative approach to dealing with various facets and opinions will ensure that voices are heard.  Her experience with forecasting and strategic planning enables her to look beyond the current to see the possible future effects of the decisions being made.

Resource Management:  As an Integrated Product Lead, Sheila has over 15 years of experience in planning, budgeting and execution of resources.  This goes beyond funding to include team staffing, contract and test requirements, as well as, training and maintenance. Knowing how one entity affects the other is the better path to successful decision making.

Realtor: She has spent 30+ years as a licensed Maryland Realtor and remains active to date. Her extensive experience as a realtor in St. Mary’s County has given Sheila firsthand knowledge of our significant lack of housing availability. She knows that this is a serious problem for businesses and NAS PAX to recruit young professionals, the school system attracting educators, service workers, and those citizens who fall into the Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) category, also known as the working poor.  She also understands that the housing market does not afford our young professionals the opportunity to strike out on their own and live the dream of home ownership while maintaining a vibrant social life.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT / OUTREACH:  Sheila chose “From Talk to Action” as her tag line in the 2022 campaign.  Though she did not win the election, she stuck by the line and became more involved the community.  Her community service includes serving as a Certified Lay Servant of Zion UM Church and the Past Matron of Fidelity Chapter #60 of the Order of Eastern Star.  She serves on the NAACP #7025 Housing Board. She is a lifetime member of the Unified Committee of Afro-American Contributions. She is a Food Distribution Volunteer and an Elder Caregiver for senior family members.  She is a non-voting member of the Local Homelessness Prevention Board.  She Sheila is an active member of the LMPP Community Garden Steering Committee 2024 graduate of the Univ. of MD Extension Master Gardener Program.   She serves on the United Methodist Church, Washington East District Board of Church and Location.  As a realtor, she serves on the Southern Maryland Association of Realtors (SMAR) Cares and SMAR IDEA Committees.  Sheila was a 2025 St. Mary's County Woman of the Year Nominee.
